Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By accessing or using MarginReality (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all visitors, whether or not you purchase a Pro license.

2. What MarginReality is

MarginReality is a set of browser-based profit calculators and a CSV analysis tool for e-commerce merchants. Free tools run entirely on your device. The optional $9 Pro report unlocks additional report depth (detailed score breakdown, advanced insights, and PDF export of the full report) and is delivered via a license key. Multi-channel merge, ad-spend import, and SKU ranking tools are available as free preview tools with sample data. The Service is accessible at marginreality.com.

3. No account, no subscription, no auto-renewal

MarginReality has no user accounts and no recurring billing. The Pro license is a one-time $9 payment. There is:

• No subscription to cancel.
• No automatic renewal.
• No recurring charge on your card.
• No “still billed after cancel” scenario.

A separate Monitoring subscription ($9 per month or $79 per year) is on our roadmap as a future Phase 2 product. When launched it will be clearly labeled as a recurring subscription with a one-click cancel in the dashboard and an unsubscribe link in every email. Until then, any monitoring-related page is a waitlist signup, not a charge.

4. The $9 Pro license

The $9 Pro license grants you a perpetual, non-transferable right to use the Pro report features described on our pricing section. The mechanics:

• What you pay: $9 USD, once. Price is fixed for the lifetime of your license; we do not raise the price of an existing license.
• What you get: The unlocked Pro report features and PDF export, usable for as long as the Service is available.
• License scope: One license key, one browser. The license key is stored in your browser's localStorage when you enter it. This is the intended design and is the reason we are able to charge $9 instead of $49 per month (we have no server-side account infrastructure to maintain).
• Changing devices or browsers: If you switch computers, clear your browser storage, or want to use Pro on a second device, email support@marginreality.com from the address tied to your purchase and we will re-issue the key for the new browser. We will not refuse reasonable requests; we will refuse requests that look like license sharing.
• No resale: You may not sell, share, sublicense, or transfer your license key. A license key found being shared publicly may be revoked.

5. Payment, taxes, and Creem as Merchant of Record

Pro purchases are processed by Creem, which acts as the Merchant of Record. This means:

• Creem, not MarginReality, is the seller of record for your purchase. Your card statement will show Creem, not MarginReality.
• Creem handles payment processing, fraud screening, sales tax, VAT, GST, and invoicing. Tax questions and charge disputes through your bank should be directed to Creem in the first instance.
• MarginReality never receives, processes, or stores your credit card number, CVC, or expiry. We receive only the email address, order identifier, and payment-success signal needed to issue your license key. See our Privacy Policy for the full data flow.

6. Refund policy

Because the Pro report is a one-time digital product and the core data analysis happens in your browser (we cannot “revoke” a computation you have already run), our refund policy is:

• 7-day unconditional refund: If you request a refund within 7 days of purchase, for any reason, we will refund the full $9. No questions asked.
• How to request: Email support@marginreality.com from the address tied to your purchase, with your license key and order ID. Refunds are processed through Creem and typically appear on your card within 5 to 10 business days.
• Chargebacks: Please email us before initiating a chargeback. Most disputes are resolved faster and with less friction by direct contact.

7. Your data stays in your browser

All Shopify CSV processing occurs entirely on your device. We do not upload, store, cache, log, or transmit the contents of your CSV to any server. This is a core design choice, not a marketing line. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

8. Accuracy of results and no financial advice

MarginReality provides informational estimates only. Profit calculations are derived from the CSV you upload and from the assumptions you enter in our calculators. Actual results will vary based on factors the tool cannot see, including but not limited to currency conversion, regional fees, seasonal pricing, payment-processor specifics, ad-spend timing, COGS changes, and overhead the CSV does not capture.

The Service is not financial, accounting, tax, or legal advice. Nothing on MarginReality creates a professional or advisory relationship between you and MarginReality. You are responsible for any business, tax, or pricing decision you make based on a MarginReality report, and you should consult a qualified accountant or financial advisor before acting on the numbers.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that results are accurate to any specific tolerance.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, MarginReality and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to business decisions, pricing changes, inventory decisions, advertising spend, or tax filings made based on MarginReality output. Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us ($9), or, if you have not purchased anything, to zero.

11. Intellectual property

All content on MarginReality, including but not limited to the website design, source code, logos, branding, the Profit Reality Score methodology, blog articles, and glossary entries, is the intellectual property of MarginReality and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws.

You may not reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works from MarginReality's proprietary content (including the Pro report output distributed to others) without written permission. Linking to MarginReality pages is encouraged. The CSV parsing, score formula, and Pro report output you generate from your own data remain your data; the software that produced them is ours.

12. Advertising and affiliate links

MarginReality may display third-party advertisements (such as Google AdSense) on content pages and may contain affiliate links. We may earn a commission if you sign up through an affiliate link, at no extra cost to you. Advertising and affiliate relationships do not influence the output of our calculators or the Pro report, and we do not place ads on tool pages. We are not responsible for the content or practices of third-party sites we link to.

13. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the Pro report logic.
• Share, publish, or resell your license key.
• Use the Service to process data you do not have the right to process.
• Attempt to overload, attack, or disrupt the Service or its third-party providers.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may restrict or terminate access, including revoking a license key, for violation of these terms, for abusive behavior toward the Service or its providers, or for suspected license-key sharing. Termination does not entitle you to a refund if you have already unlocked Pro features.

15. Changes to terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Material changes (such as a change to the refund window or to the license-key scope) will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of MarginReality after a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

16. Dispute resolution and governing law

Disputes arising from these terms or your use of the Service should first be addressed by good-faith contact with support@marginreality.com. If we cannot resolve the dispute within 30 days, it shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that you may bring small-claims-court actions in the jurisdiction where you reside. These terms are governed by the laws applicable to MarginReality's operating jurisdiction, without regard to conflict of laws principles.
